Prescriptions

When first joining the Practice you will see your new Doctor for your prescriptions.

Following this, between your regular consultations with your doctor, repeat prescriptions may generally be requested by the following means:

  1. Phone - you can phone the practice nurse or leave a message for the nurse
  2. Email - you may email your request to nurse@gbmc.co.nz
  3. Online - use the patient portal if registered.

Please ensure that we have your contact number in case there are any queries while preparing your prescription.

Please allow at least 2 days for your script request to be actioned so we suggest you ask for your script 4 to 5 days before you will run out of medication.

Your doctor may also require that your blood pressure, pulse, weight or peak flow is checked when you collect your prescription.

12-month Prescriptions

12-month prescriptions are only suitable for a small number of patients with stable long-term conditions. The decision will always depend on clinical suitability and GP judgement.

Not all medications are eligible, including controlled drugs and medications that require regular monitoring or review.

Before a longer prescription is issued, your GP will need to complete a medication review to ensure it is safe and appropriate for your ongoing care.

At your next appointment, please discuss with your GP whether a longer prescription may be suitable for you.
